Tips in going to Puerto Galera

The SNC went on another trip that we wish everybod could join but at the end there are only 6 members who went on with the plan. Here is my share for our trip in Puerto Galera the rest of the story about our trip will be given by the other members.

If you are planning to go to Puerto Galera here is some tips we could share to you guys.

Transportation expenses:
Bus from Alabang to Batangas Pier (V.V) - P99 for ordinary and P120.50 for Aircon
Ferry from Batangas Pier to White Sand, Puerto Galera (V.V) - P150
Ferry for snorkling - P1,200 (6 persons) good for 2-3 hours
Banana Boat - (Sorry i forgot this one hehehe!)

House to stay:
We went to Mendelukes wherein we get a room with two beds and one additional beddings for the amount P2,200 which is good for 6 people. We also learned that during summer which starts at April and will end on May that room cost P6,000 for an overnight stay. Well you can also check other cottages but its better if you have contact before you go there so you wouldn't have a hard time looking for one once you get there.

Food and drinks:
Its better if you bring your own water because a liter of mineral water costs P30-P40. There are a lot of restaurants where you can dine out food ranges from P90-P260. There is also a Talipapa which is a walking distance where you can buy fresh seafoods and fresh vegetables if you chose to cook your own food.

Gimik Place:
Almost the whole stretch of the Beach had their own gimik after the sun goes down so its all up to you what crowd you want to join.

Well i'll try to update this one again but for the meantime this are what I can share to you guys. Next stop.... hehehe! We are still planning for it but don't you worry we will update you guys!!!

Last Minute Reminders

  • Don't forget to put your stuff ~ especially the electronic gadgets like cellphones, cameras and chargers ~ in garbage bags or ziplocs or whatever plastic bag you may find, especially if your bags are not waterproof.
  • Try not to bring too much valuables like jewelry. Kung talagang di kayo sanay na wala, be sure to have a safe place for it in your bags for when we leave the cottage/inn.
  • Double-check the cash!
  • Medication for those like me... heeheehee. Wag kalilimutan.
  • Don't forget also yung cup noodles, canned goods and other provisions. Refer to Demz' post before this.
  • Time is material here, lalo na sa departure... Kaya please, be on time, mga pare!
  • Ja and Demz, yung mga boteng paglalagyan natin ng sand...! :D

Yun lang po. Bow.

Huweeee... Hike, Climb & Dive na! :)

Minutes of the Meeting

GEN this is for you and Jigs.

  2. Canned goods tulad ng tuna, sausage, meatloaf, maling, spam (kung galante kayo. hehehe) - again you choose. basta at least 2 each.
  3. instant coffee, chocolate drink, milk or tea.
  4. Softdrinks or juice - you choose.
  5. Mineral water - or dun na tayo bibili? sabagay medyo mabigat dalhin yun.
  6. chichirya or junk foods. pampulutan and/or snack. magdadala ako ng Boy Bawang. hehehe. sana di ko makalimutan.
  7. candies, sweets or chocolate kung trip nyo. niQ dala ka pochi. sarap pala yun eh. :D

►Departure natin is 3am. so dapat nasa Alabang na tayo nun.

►About the place to stay, well pagdating dun maghahanap muna tayo ng cottage. pag wala tayong makita na maganda or yung magugustuhan natin, Mendelluke suites na tayo.

►It is important na nakalagay sa plastic yung mga gamit at yung mga sensitive gadgets like camera, cellphone, mp3 player, etc kasi yung sasakyan natin na boat, open yung sides nya (tama ba niQ?) kaya may tendency na mabasa tayo or yung mga gamit natin.

►Before lunchtime, andun na tayo. pagdating dun mamimili tayo ng iluluto natin for lunch since magppicnic tayo sa beach dba? that is, kung pwede tayo magluto. basta tignan na lang natin dun. yung rice, dun na lang tayo bumili at yung luto na sana. walang maganda or sosyal na resto dun ha. ordinary lang yung mga kainan dun.

►Gen and Jigs kayo bahala sa pagluluto. sarapan nyo luto nyo. matagal na namin plan na magfood trip dun kaya dapat masarap ang pagkain.:p seafoods ha. yum yum.

anything else i forgot?☼

OPLAN GALERA: Sweet Nothings

►Just saw Gen's map and from it, i would presume that our docking point would be at Baletero Beach port since yun ang pinakamalapit sa white beach. and from there, kung kayang lakarin, lalakarin nlang natin papuntang resort, kung saan man tayo mag-sstay.

►I stand corrected. Tamaraw beach resort is beside Aninuan beach and not White Sand beach as what i have written earlier. based ulit dun sa map ni Gen, mahaba pala yung stretch ng white beach and yung dalawang resorts na nabanggit ko, sakop sya ng Talipanan at Aninuan beach.the difference, i dont know. but i suppose Mendelluke is somewhere in between Brgys. Minolo and San Isidro or Brgys. San Isidro and Aninuan - within the White Beach area. i suggest na within the area of Mendelluke nlang tayo maghanap ng cottage para kung di natin magustuhan, di na tayo mahirapan pang pumunta/bumalik dun sa inn.

►And just as what Gen said, Tamaraw Falls is on the other end of the island. mukhang ubusan ng lakas ang mangyayari kung dun mag-hi-hiking. meron din naman malapit na falls dun sa area ng white beach, Tamaraw at Aninuan Falls. pero kung trip nyo talaga ng adventure, cge Tamaraw Falls tayo. basta pag sumama si Monique, sasama din ako.:p Niq, lam ko eto na naman reaction mo: "ako na naman?!" hahaha. joke joke joke.

►Niq since ikaw ang mas may idea sa pupuntahan natin, kung may mali or kung nagmumukha akong smartass sa mga pinagsasabi ko, please please feel free to correct me... ;)

►Sana di pa kayo nakukulitan sa kin kasi meron pa akong ipopost ulit mamaya or bukas pag sinipag ako. di naman masyadong obvious na excited ako no? harharhar.☼

OPLAN GALERA: Where to Stay?

►I talked to Monique and Ja the other day and we talked about our plans the first minute we step into the sands of Puerto Galera. we're planning of having a picnic at the beach. syempre pag may picnic, may ihaw-ihaw. hmmm. ano kaya masarap ihawin? malaking fish preferably tilapia, and then squid... gusto ko rin ng crab at prawns... tapos yung clam na sinigang, yung parang napanood ko kahapon... tapos fruits... yummy. im sure naman sina Gen at Jigs na bahala dun. wala ng dapat pang pagtalunan. kahit kami na mamili ng iluluto basta kayo ang magluluto. harharhar. patak-patak na lang kahit tig-100 bucks each. basta isa lang yun sa mga plans namin. yung iba di na namin irereveal. :p

►May nakita nga pala akong pic ng cottage sa Puerto Galera. sabi ni Monique, ganito daw yung tipo ng mga cottages dun. im posting it para magka-idea kayo. this particular cottage has no aircon ha. and it has 2 beds daw.

Check Itenerary again

I went home this morning and had this feeling of excitement knowing that in few more days we will be going to Galera. 9 more days left as of today right? I went to check again the map where we will be staying and looking at our itenerary about the next day trip i found out that White Beach and Tamaraw falls are both on opposite side of the island. The nearest falls near White Beach would be Aninuan and Talipanan Falls. Will it take us a long time to get to Tamaraw falls from the current location where we will stay? I might be wrong since i'm just basing it on a bigger map. Hehehe! Just wondering. :P

OPLAN GALERA: Travel Checklist

This might be of help to you in packing your bags and in shopping for your needs na rin. anyway, kung may nakalimutan ako, sabihin nyo lang.
  1. Shorts. at least 2 - 3 pairs (or pieces?). bahala na kayo sa grammar. basta in my case, i'll bring 3 para sure.
  2. Tank tops. at least 2 pieces.
  3. T-shirt and/or sleeveless and kung ano man yung gagamitin nyong pampatong sa swimsuit, kung yun ang plan nyo. para sa girls lang yung last part ha.
  4. Bathing suit for the girls and swimming trunks or swimming shorts for the boys. pwede na isa pero pwede rin dalawa.
  7. Pajamas. optional na ito sa inyo.
  8. Towel. in my case, i'll bring one big and 2 small ones.
  10. Shades/Sunglasses. protection ng ating mga mata against the sun.
  11. Clothes na pang-uwi nyo.
  12. Sunblock lotion. Coppertone, Nivea, Hawaiian Tropic or kung ano mang brand ang preferred nyo. ok na yung SPF20 pero mas maganda kung mas mataas like yung kay Monique, SPF50. kung di nyo alam, pag di kayo naglagay ng sunblock, especially at our age, my tendency na magkaroon ng dark spots yung skin natin and/or wrinkles yung mukha natin. in other words, maagang tatanda. gusto nyo ba yun? taray. :p
  13. Lip balm para sa lips. preferably yung may sunblock. syempre kailangan din ng lips natin ng protection from the sun.
  14. Sunblock para sa face like Godiva, Eskinol, Pond's or kung ano mang brand ang ginagamit nyo. or unless yung sunblock lotion nyo eh pwede rin sa mukha. for the same purpose dun sa sinabi ko kanina. kaya girls, naku dont leave the house ng hindi naglalagay ng sunblock.
  15. Sun spray kung maarte talaga kayo. Nivea, Shiseido bahala kayo.
  16. Moisturizer. ilalagay nyo yan sa mukha nyo para hindi ma-dry. nilalagay yan sa umaga before maglagay ng sunblock. pero kung my moisturizer na yung sunblock nyo, pwede na yun. tama ba pinagsasabi ko? and then nilalagay din yan sa gabi bago matulog, kung yun ang routine nyo.
  17. TOILETRY KIT - which may contain toothbrush, toothpaste, shampoo, conditioner, soap, face/lose powder, cologne, alcohol/hand sanitizer, tissue, wet tissue, feminine wash, facial wash, cotton buds, baby oil, body lotion, insect repellant lotion (kung trip nyo magdala), deodorant, adhesive bandages/band-aid (just in case), make-up kung feel nyo. yung iba dyan my nabibili na nasa sachet. mas convenient kung yun dadalhin nyo for obvious reasons. ;)
  18. Hat/Cap/Sunvisor/Bandana.
  19. Sarong.
  22. Accessories like earrings, bracelet, anklet and necklace. kung type nyo magdala.
  23. MONEY. for the accomodation (tayo pa ba magbabayad?), food, transpo, pang-contribute sa pambili ng alak, at syempre ang pinaka-importante sa lahat at ang pinakafavorite ni Janice - pangSHOPPING.
Petroleum Jelly kung nappredict nyo na ma-ssun burn kayo or any medicine for that matter.
  25. Pillow/s. kung gusto nyo lang naman at kung di kayo nakakatulog ng di kasama yung favorite pillow nyo or kung hindi kayo sanay matulog sa ibang lugar at namimiss nyo agad kama nyo and you need something that would make you feel like you're sleeping at your own bed.
  26. at higit sa lahat..... Cup noodles ( at least 1-2 for each, depende kung anong trip nyo), Instant coffee mix para no need to buy sugar, Chocolate drink sa mga hindi nagkakape, Styrofoam cups, Plastic spoons and forks, at JUNK FOODS!!!!
May nakalimutan pa ba ako?

Tentative Itinerary (+ Projected Time of Completion)

Huwaaaat??

So I tried to come up with a tentative itinerary for our weekend trip to Galera. Suggestions are welcome... Demz, help me out! :)

Friday night, February 24~
  • Dapat magkakasama na tayong lahat. Pwedeng magsunduan kasi may mga bitbit di ba? O basta, to follow na details nito...

Saturday, February 25~

  • We leave around 2am. Sakay tayo either bus or rent ng van going to Batangas City Pier.
  • 6am (or earlier): Nasa Pier na tayo. Bili tickets for the 1st ferry going to White Beach.
  • 7am: Ferry to White Beach.
  • Before lunch: Andun na tayo. Check-in sa hotel/inn. Mendelluke Suites na tayo di ba? Masaya yun sa gabi, kwentuhan galore, heehee... Basta girls ang may preferential right sa shower ha. :P
  • We have the whole afternoon to do whatever. I proposed snorkeling. Konting swim-swim (tampisaw for me and Demz). We can also explore the place.
  • Kelangan nating makita yung sunset...
  • Saturday night: Kung may rave parties, ayus! Kung wala, we'll hold the party ourselves! :) Inuman di ba?
  • Ano, matutulog ba tayo? :D

Sunday, February 26~

  • Sunday morning, I proposed a hike to Tamaraw Falls. Hindi kasi kumpleto ang 1st time visit sa Galera kapag 'di mo sinunod ang mantra nilang ito: "Hike, Climb and Dive". And it's worth it naman, promise. :)
  • After lunch, shopping galore!
We should be back in Alabang by 6 or 7pm.

So.. yun muna. Just a general idea of what to expect on our trip. Further suggestions, please, suggest lang! Demz, tulong ha... :)

Later, gators. (Di ko naman masyado favorite 'to noh. heehee.)

~Monique~

Galera Update: Mendelluke Suites

Hello po! Just a short post for updates on the Galera trip. I got another recommendation today from my friend who's a regular Galera visitor and he gave me the number of Mendelluke Suites. It's a nice place according to him so I called up Thess, the contact person, and this is what she told me...

  • Their room rates are as follows:
    ♠ For 2 people ~ P1,000 overnight
    ♠ For 4 people (suite) ~ P1,800 overnight
  • Since the projected number of people who will be joining is 6 so far (Gen, Jayr, Demz, Ja, Jigs, Niq) I asked if they would allow 6 people to fit in the suite, and how much will be the additional charge.
  • The room is airconditioned, has a tv and clean bathroom (according to my friend).
  • It is located at the beachfront. 30-second walk to the beach!
  • The room rates do not include food. Lodging/overnight stay lang. I think that's OK since we'll be eating out naman most of the time.
  • I have already asked Thess to reserve the suite for us on the weekend of February 25-26.

Heehee. :)

Oh, and please scroll a little further down for WOWIE's profile. So cute!

Later gators.

OPLAN GALERA: When and Where to go Shopping for the Trip

this entry is intended for the benefit of the girls ONLY... pero cge pwede rin makijoin mga boys kung gusto nila. suggestions ko lang po ang mga sasabihin ko.

WHEN ARE WE GONNA GO SHOPPING?

►I talked to Ja yesterday, she told me she can't go shopping on the 18th kasi my pupuntahan sya on that day. hindi naman ako pwede on the 17th kasi may naka-schedule akong exam on the 18th. ito kasing prof namin, pala-absent. delayed tuloy kami sa coverage ng lesson kaya pati midterm delayed din.
► Since di pwede si Ja sa 18th at ako sa 17th, malamang di na rin matuloy ang girls' night out kasi syempre kulang ang "Power of Three". unless gusto nina Monique at Janice na lumabas on the 17th (Friday) or gusto namin ni Monique na kami na lang lumabas on the 18th (Saturday)... syempre if i were to choose gusto ko magkakasama kaming 3.
► Because of that, we only have two options: first, we can go shopping on the 11th sabay gimik na rin. pero kung wala pang budget on that day, window shopping na lang muna then gimik. in relation to that is the second option. kung makapag-window shopping tayo sa 11th (Saturday), sa 19th (Sunday) na lang tayo magshopping.

next, WHERE TO GO SHOPPING FOR THE TRIP?

OPTION #1: MAKATI
ADVANTAGE/s
► There are 4 shopping malls to choose from: SM, Glorietta, Landmark and Greenbelt. yaiks wag na sa Greenbelt. ang mahal dun! hehehe. anyway, kung wala tayo makita sa isa, pwede tayo lumipat sa kabilang mall. pero kung gusto nyo ng bargain shopping na sosyal, syempre Landmark is the only place i can think of. actually mas gusto ko dun kesa sa SM. mas mura talaga especially yung mga items na parehong makikita dun sa dalawang mall na yun. at magaganda rin. hindi mukhang cheap, yung iba. :)
► Syempre kung gigimik pagtapos, andun ang Greenbelt.

DISADVANTAGE/s
